New Jazz and Blues for August
Thursday, July 30th, 2009
He smoked reefer with Louis Armstrong, got his first ukulele from the man who invented the instrument and taught Elvis how to play one in Hawaii. Bill Tapia has led a memorable life but he’s not one to sit back in a rocker and tell stories. At age 101, Bill is still touring and has just released a new CD, “Livin’ It Live” this month. If you like Hawaiian music or jazz standards, you’ll love Bill.

Next time you need a soundtrack for your BBQ, check out Johnny Basset. His new CD sounds like old school electric blues set in modern times. Here’s the rest of what’s new in blues and jazz.
