Are you or your kids bored of the all-american music called jazz? Well there are some events this month that might just wake you up. If you didn’t catch the last blog post, the 55th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival is sure to get your toe tappin’ (with a stellar lineup including Ambrose Akinmusire, Bill Frisell, Jack DeJonette, Esperanza Spalding, and so many more). For a relatively low price you can get access to the world’s finest jazz, both cutting edge and straight ahead.

If Monterey is too much of a trek for you, check out the John Scofield Trio, live at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in downtown Santa Cruz on September 17th. There’s a 7 and 9PM set, and these funky cats will have you groovin’ all night long. And if you’re part of the chosen few who have tickets to the sold out Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Jack DeJonette trio which hits the Rio on the 10th, I think we’re all jealous. Stay tuned for more jazz programing in October, and I’ll check in with ya’ll next month.
