The great part about non-commercial radio is it is often ones only time to casually be exposed to music that isn’t top 40 or something from the 70’s. It is many’s only chanced to really discover what types of music are out there. There are other mediums in which we discover our own tastes. I, for example, developed my taste in music from the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. These included artists like Del, Primus and the Dead Kennedys all of which I still listen to today. It’s interesting to see how what we enjoy doing in our free time can affect our taste in music.
