Ukranian quartet, DakhaBrakha will be playing at Kuumbwa Jazz April 13th as part of their United States tour
This Ukrainian “ethno-chaos” band creates a world of unexpected new music. Accompanied by Indian, Arabic, African, Russian and Australian traditional instrumentation, the quartet’s astonishingly powerful and uncompromising vocal range creates a trans-national sound rooted in Ukrainian culture. The name “DakhaBrakha” means “give/take” in the old Ukrainian language, and they certainly take from many world influences while giving the influence of Ukrainian culture!
You can follow their music and support the artists on bandcamp: https://dakhabrakha.bandcamp.com/
You can check out here the music video for their song “Please don’t cry” from their 2010 album, Light. I highly recommend it.
