On Wiki Wiki Wednesday, we are scheduled to speak to Amy Hanaiali’i, as her travel time and television interviews permit. Maybe 8:15- 8:30 am, perhaps 8:30- 8:45 am, but contingent upon her availability. Her music will speak for her, as it does nearly every week on KZSC.

Join us from 6:00- 9:00 am Wednesday for Hawaiian and Pacific Island music. Our artist Amy has a long family history of music from her grandmother, Jennie Napua Woodd, who danced hula from Waikiki, to Hollywood, to Las Vegas and New York City. Cinema from the 1940’s and 1950’s reflect Amy’s Grandmother’s choreography.

Lucky listeners can tune into Wiki Wiki Wednesday to hear the musical geneology, and be glad for the matriarchal line that brought us Amy and her talents.

Amy’s voice is a supple instrument, she can “swang it” cha-lang- a lang style, or sing in a lush jazz register. Her intonation and Hawaiian pronunciations are impeccable and precise. She is a passionate interpreter, through her music, of her island home.

Amy Hanaiali’i ‘s California tour has her nearby at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley on Wednesday April 24th, and Saratoga’s Villa Montalvo Thursday, April 25th.
