Bradley, California isn’t known as a hub for alternative dance music, but this coming Memorial Day Weekend (May 21st-25th) the creative minds at Lightning In A Bottle will bring their magic to the sleepy, central coast village. Sitting on the banks of the Salinas River, Bradley’s San Antonio Recreation Area provides the beautiful setting in which festival goers from around the world will gather to celebrate, what LIB describes as “art, music, performance, sustainability and life.” Since its creation in 2000, LIB Festival’s trajectory has taken it from a small, grassroots gathering to a much more massive production that maintains the authenticity and intimacy of its first incantation. This year’s musical lineup includes Aussie superstar producer Flume, the UK’s SBTRKT, as well as old school legends like John Digweed and Santa Cruz’s own G Jones. The long weekend experience includes camping, stunning art installations, guided yoga, and even a learning-kitchen that offers workshops on preparing healthy and delicious food. All of these activities revolve around a conscious effort to promote environmental awareness and stewardship. Perhaps the central coast’s greatest celebration of being alive, Lightening in a Bottle is sure to be a life changing experience!
