September. The sunny season is winding down, and fall is approaching. Many proud gardeners and groundskeepers find themselves bidding farewell to blooming flowers, and preparing for seasonal change. We here at KZSC are also bracing for change. Come October, we will be saying "farewell" to the amazing programmer Rose Lobel. Rose deejays "What's New", which airs Thursdays at noon. Her program showcases the recently released music of up-and-coming artists from a multitude of genres. An earful of Rose's "What's New" proves that great music is alive, kicking, and here to stay.

Classes at UC Santa Cruz start on October 2nd, and KZSC is putting together a local environmental news report for the fall schedule (which starts October 20th). We'll train a small group of UCSC students to report on local environmental news. You'll learn to research, write, and report for the radio and web and you'll quickly become an expert in the environmental history and issues facing the Monterey Bay, Salinas Valley, Santa Cruz Mountains, Big Sur and beyond. No course credit can be offered yet, but internship, service learning, or independent study credit may be arranged.
